Welcome to the OrangeReels Film Festival!

OrangeReels 2024 will be held on September 27th, 6pm-8pm
Newhouse and VPAThe Television, Radio and Film program in Newhouse has remained separate from the Film program in Visual and Performing Arts since they were founded. Students in both programs have expressed their interest in working with each other, however there are limited opportunities for this. Coming together to showcase films in a shared space will help students of both programs to build community between all filmmakers at Syracuse University.

The Need to ShowcaseGathering together to celebrate film creates a shared experience that enhances appreciation for both the medium and our peers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many students were deprived of connection in this way. Today, the effects of the pandemic are still lingering, leaving students with a deep desire to gather and share work.
|
Recognizing ExcellenceA panel of alumni judges will review the submissions, and the top films will be selected for showcase. Celebrating the top works in this showcase will motivate and inspire students while fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared passion.
|
Opportunity to GrowThe showcase creates an environment for young filmmakers to create a community based on their shared passion for cinema. Along with this, exposure to diverse ideas and topics allows for a better understanding of different perspectives and interpretations.

The whole aspect of cinema and film festivals should be a moment to come together and celebrate art and humanity."
